Meet our 2023 SPFE Endorsed Candidates
2023 School Board Candidate Screenings
SPFE will screen candidates for endorsement virtually on Wednesday, May 24 at 5pm. Candidate screenings are open to anyone that wishes to attend, but you must register to receive the Zoom link. Register here.
In order to screen for endorsement, candidates must meet the SPFE Minimum Criteria for Endorsement, shadow an educator for a day, and complete the SPFE candidate questionnaire.
SPFE has invited the following candidates to screen for endorsement:
- Chauntyll Allen
- Yusef Carrillo
- Carlo Franco
- Erica Valliant.
- Sumeya Said (no website available). This is a late entry in seeking an SPFE endorsement. You can view the candidate questionnaire here.
Director Ellis and Director Kopp have declined to seek the SPFE endorsement.
City Council Candidate Screenings
Ward 1 Candidate Screening

Ward 3 Candidate Screening

Ward 5 Candidate Screening

SPFE has invited Hwa Jeong Kim to screen for endorsement. Pam Tollefsen has declined to seek the SPFE endorsement.
Ward 7 Candidate Screening
SPFE will screen candidates for endorsement virtually on Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 am. Candidate screenings are open to anyone that wishes to attend, but you must register to receive the Zoom link. Register here.
In order to screen for endorsement, candidates must meet the SPFE Minimum Criteria for Endorsement, shadow an educator for a day, and complete the SPFE candidate questionnaire.

Ward 2, 4, 6 Candidate Screenings
SPFE COPE will screen uncontested City Council incumbents in wards 2,4, and 6 prior to precinct caucuses (Sunday, March 19, 1pm). These screenings will be held via Zoom. Screenings are open to the public, but you must register to receive the link. The screening schedule is:
- Friday, March 10, 10:30 am – Ward 6, Nelsie Yang
- Sunday, March 12, 1pm – Ward 2, Rebecca Noecker
- Sunday, March 12, 1:20 pm – Ward 4, Mitra Jalali
2023 Caucus Information
The 2023 Saint Paul Precinct Caucuses will be held on Sunday, March 19 at 1pm. You can the location of your caucus here. Ward boundaries have changed due to redistricting, so be sure to verify your ward and precinct before you go.
Participating in your precinct caucus is one way to have a say in who gets elected. We especially need SPFE members to attend their precinct caucus, and become delegates to the City Convention (held in early June) when endorsements for school board will happen.
