Jon Tufte is a Korean American adoptee from Prior Lake, MN. He has a philosophy degree from Hamline University and has completed his student teaching through the Hamline MAT program. Jon is a Restorative Practice lead at Johnson High School. He runs an after school tutoring program at Johnson and Farnsworth Upper. He is the Girls and Boys swim coach at Johnson and a regular judge for Johnson’s Poetry Out Loud. In the summer, Jon teaches a how to build a computer class and a drawing class through Johnson’s 3M STEM camp for 4th-8th grade students. He also teaches a youth development employment/swim/lifeguard program for the Eastside YMCA targeting youth of color. Jon created an adaptive swim program for Johnson’s DCD and Aspire programs with the adaptive physical education coach. He has co-created a gender in sports professional development for SPPS as well as a gender in the classroom at a GSA Summit for SPPS. Jon is an advocate for the narrative stories of all people. He believes in helping young people on the margins find their voice and advocate for themselves.
