Car rally Tuesday calling for SPPS to delay reopening schools St. Paul, Minnesota, Jan. 11, 2021 –

Educators want to be back in school buildings – but it needs to safe.

Unfortunately, a plan by Saint Paul Public Schools to reopen its schools starting Feb. 1 elicits more questions than answers. It also comes at a time when community spread of COVID-19 is high, a more contagious strain has emerged and educators haven’t been vaccinated yet. This will make it difficult to staff schools when adults are sick or quarantining.
Educators, parents and community members will gather for a car rally Tuesday and call on the district to delay reopening until educators can be vaccinated, community transmission declines and they can communicate safety plans to families.

What: Car rally for safe reopening of Saint Paul Public Schools
When: Tuesday, Jan. 12; cars start gathering at 4:30 p.m.; program at 5 p.m.
Where: Saint Paul Public Schools district office, 360 Colborne St., St. Paul

People will be given instructions at the event for signing into a Zoom webinar on their phone in their car so they can participate within the safety of their vehicle.
